It’s less than a month until #NaNoWriMo 2015 starts; for those who don’t know NaNoWriMo is a month long competition where people set themselves the goal of writing a novel:
On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.
The NaNoWriMo website provides encouragement and support, along with forums to communicate with other writers and links to live broadcast writing workshops and the like, the idea is to challenge yourself and push your creativity rather than actually competing against other people.
2014 was the first year I participated in it and I was very pleased I managed to finish my novel Down on the Farm, a tale of a man and his companions trying to survive an unnatural disaster by sheltering in a semi-flooded farmhouse. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do this year, but I definitely want to have another go at it, since I think it gave me more confidence as a writer.
