Peter Thompson’s EotE NPC Generator

I’ve been scouting around the internet and have come across the following excellent random NPC generator created by Peter Thompson; it lets you generate random NPCs that can be exported in an XML format suitable for use with Oggdude’s Character Generator. This will definitely be useful and is something I intend to use in future. http://thompsonpeters.com/eote/misc/NPCgen/

Different coloured R2 units

One of the players is going to be an R2 unit in my forthcoming Adventures on the Outer Rim one-shot, I’ve always loved how there are lots of different colour schemes for R2s and so I’ve come up with some messing about in Photoshop. You can find a link to the PNG file (with transparent […]

Noir scene setters

In the recent session of Thashif’s Dresden Files game that we played Mathew recommended some excellent scene setters for a noir style game. Effectively he suggested having the following two links running in additional windows at the same time as the hangout: Rain Effect http://www.rainymood.com Piano Music http://listenonrepeat.com/watch/?v=HMnrl0tmd3k#Turnabout_Jazz_Soul_-_Track_8_-_Godot_-_The_Fragrance_of_Dark_Coffee Having these two running in the background […]

Oggdude’s Star Wars Character Generator

For anyone playing FFG’s Star Wars RPGs, the following program (written by Oggdude) is a great time-saver when it comes to creating characters, it also allows you to create sheets in a couple of different formats, add custom information and provides some excellent GM-ing tools. The link below is to the web installation that auto-updates itself: http://bitly.com/1kjPjSk […]

Skyless City Jadepunk Campaign Notes

Since my Skyless City Jadepunk campaign has now come to a close I wanted to make all of the notes I made and used within the campaign available to people to have a look at so you can see how I prepare a campaign and in-case there is anything of use for people in there. A zip […]

AJ Pickett’s D4 System

AJ Pickett has recently posted his minimal D4 system on facebook, the system is essentially based around the random roll of a D4, although the author does provide some suggestions for incorporating skills/talents. Click here to see the system

RPGs with young people

For anyone who has read my previous post and is interested in helping young people get into RPGs or has young people amongst their players, there was an excellent panel hosted by Nate of WasD20 for BrigadeCon2015, check it out 🙂

Useful link: British Pathé

The British Pathé youtube channel collects archived footage about particular topics from the days when news reels used to be shown in cinemas, some very interesting stuff and also shows the biases and thoughts of the time when the reels were made, could be very useful to GMs running period games: https://www.youtube.com/user/britishpathe/

Useful link: Gypsy magic, old names for herbs

This page on the Gypsy Magic website provides an A-Z list containing traditional names for herbs, these would be great for adding a bit of extra flavour in a fantasy campaign: http://gypsymagicspells.blogspot.fi/2009/08/old-names-for-herbs-to-z.html?m=1
