Working on the Three Brothers World Map

Although I’ve got a small world map that I produced using the Greenfish Relief Map Generator, I’ve started working on six larger hex maps that mirror what is on the big world map (for more precise location of things and generally plotting of adventures).

Once I’ve done all six I’ll be able to piece them together to make a giant world hex map, three of them are done at the moment, you can see where they’ll fit on the worldmap below:

I’ve got the basic landmasses, hills and mountain ranges done on the first three maps, I’ll be adding forests, rivers and other stuff later.

The maps for this campaign were produced using the excellent hexographer and hex templates from the Welsh Piper website.

  1. Love those icons and the 1E Greyhawk Darlene style shapes in hexographer. Try this article for the method to mimic that, it really makes hex maps pleasing to the eyes.

You will also find brush strokes that provide edge shoreline effect to rough out the edges of those hexes.

Also, if that is the world map (?) I would erase landmasses that goes off the edges if using a globe shaped earthlike world shape.

Lastly, this is a great tutorial to mimic the Darlene style 1e Greyhawk map style:

    Nice site!

    1. Thanks very much for the link, glad you likes the maps, the map pictured is part of the world map, I’ve deliberately had continents go off the edge so that I can expand it later 🙂
